This role is responsible for developing and executing a technical engagement strategy that is globally and cross functionally aligned to support the Cell Culture and Cell Therapy Businesses. We are looking for a leader who can bring a balance of strategic direction, daily management, team development to help us deliver and maximize on our KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). This person will lead the Americas Cell Culture Field Application Scientist and technical engagements teams, and provide guidance based on past technical experience and in depth knowledge of the BioProduction cell culture product and service offerings. This leader plays a critical role in identifying and prioritizing their teams activities to ensure effective support of customers, Sales Account Managers, Core Account Managers, Business Development Managers, and R&D Scientists necessary to meet the business goals. To be successful, this leader must maintain awareness of customers evolving technical challenges and material requirements, and be able to effectively capture and communicate these to the Product Management and R&D teams.
It is imperative that the FAS Leader has an established technical credibility and a perceived contribution to clients and their end goals. Experience and track record highly influence the success of the FAS Leader. Clients select Thermo Fisher based on the technology offering, company reputation and most importantly the expertise of the people. Because of historical relationship building at selected Core Accounts, it is important that this person will maintain customer contacts to keep relationships growing.
The ability to effectively influence and guide internal and technical field team (FAS team) is required. The ability to effectively manage shifting priorities and work at a rapid pace is also required. Proven relationship building skills required. Excellent communication skills, including writing, articulating, listening, and questioning skills are required. The ability to verbally communicate technical strategies and then translate those strategies into an accurate concise written document is critical for success.

Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with customers at local Targeted Accounts and global Core Accounts Leverage the support of local FAS and Sr FAS while maintaining a global view of Core Account customers Build coordinated planning process with Gibco Services Business Development Managers Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of the biopharmaceutical cell culture process, business and customer base Demonstrated scientific acumen with strong technical and analytical skills Self-starter with the ability to create and execute plans with minimal supervision. Strong management, project management and planning skills, comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations and embracing change Ability to articulate and evaluate multiple complex ideas and align others around a recommended course of action; strong communicator to share vision and plans with others Ability to work in matrix organizational structure and influence without authority Outcome orientation and a strong desire to plan to measure the success of initiatives Global mindset. Ability to work with teams across the global and cultural difference Education/Experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related discipline People management and team leadership experience is required, remote management experience is an advantage Minimum 10 years of industry technical experience in therapeutic cell culture and process development in a cGMP environment Experience in interacting with external clients and ability to present technical content to small and large group of audience Preferred Qualifications: PhD is desirable M.B.A is highly preferred Continuous improvement certification, such as PPI or Six Sigma is an advantage. Travel and Location: Travel up to 50% of the time including international travel as required. This position will be located in the United States, with a home based office and access to convenient air travel. The BioProduction Cell Culture center of excellence is located in Grand Island, NY and with the addition of Advanced Biomaterials is supported by our Maryland site. This position will be expected to travel to GI approximately monthly.
